Just over a month ago, DeveloperTech wrote about Twitter updating its expandable “Cards” to include apps, products, and photo galleries. In a blog post; Twitter has announced “Lead Generation” cards to further help with your digital marketing.
If you’re unaware of how the cards work, they’re currently only available via the web and official Android/iOS clients, and allow the standard tweets to be “expanded” with more information.
The newly updated cards allow brands to share discounts or offers by sharing user information with them, for example; a coffee brand could offer 25% off lattes in return for your email.
Or the Xbox One, just announced, could post a picture of the console, along with the option to share your details for a pre-order once available.
All you micro-blogging marketers should rejoice; this is likely to be an indispensible tool for your arsenal moving forward.
I’m sure by now you can see the huge potential this offers; Twitter has 500 million users (with 288 million active according to GlobalWebIndex). If you’re already not utilising the platform, it’s really worth looking into.
As Twitter moves into controlling its network in this respect; it’s clear why third party app developers are starting to be pushed out, as these could remove paid advertising and/or these cards to users who do not wish to participate.
Many developers have led high-profile campaigns against these new moves; such as introducing a “token” limit for apps to have a certain limit of users, causing revolts such as Falcon Pro for Android who raised its app price to $132.13 in protest.
